The Life of MERLIN E MAUK
Merlin E. Mauk, 68, of 2712 Thompson Ave. died of a heart attack Friday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center. Serices will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Union Park Baptist Church, of which he was a member. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. Mauk was born in Shenandoah and lived in Des Moines for 51 years. He retired in 1988 as a teacher at East High School, where he had also been a golf coach. He was a member of the Des Moines and National Education Associations.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; three sons, Marty, Alan and Brett, all of Des Moines; a brother, Marvin of Johnston; and two grandchildren.
The family will greet friends and relatives from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hamilton''s Funeral Home. memorial contributions may be made to the Pine Lake Christian Center.
