The Life of RUTH JONES NEWLIN
Ruth Jones Newlin, 92, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. Ruth was born May 30, 1916, in West Branch, IA to Howard and Jessie Jones. Ruth graduated from Westown Friends School in Pennsylvania. She worked for W.T. Grant Department Store, Ardan’s, and was a homemaker for many years. Ruth enjoyed gardening, sewing, camping and spending time with her grandchildren. She lived for 15 years in Mountain Home, Arkansas prior to her husband death in 2001. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Jean Crabbs; her six grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild all of the Des Moines area; and her sister, Elinor Cloe of Davenport, IA. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Edward Newlin; her son, Larry; three brothers; three sisters; and one great-grandchild. Memorial services will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, March 23, 2009 at St. Paul Presbyterian Church, 6426 Merle Hay Road in Johnston, visitation will be 3-5 P.M. Sunday, at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Presbyterian Church in loving memory of Ruth.
