The Life of WILLIAM FREDERICK GABEL

Bill Gabel, 59, died Sunday, February 8, 2004 at home.  Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, February 13, at the Ankeny Funeral Home, with burial in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Bill was born in Osceola and grew up in the Truro and Des Moines areas, moving to Ankeny 22 years ago.  He retired in 2002 from the State of Iowa Department of Public Heath.  Previously he worked for the State of Iowa in the departments of Transportation and General Services.  Before working for the state, he worked at Ginsberg Furniture.  He loved his grandchildren, enjoyed classic cars and NASCAR racing and loved his dogs.

He is survived by his wife, Sheryl Gabel of Ankeny; son and daughter-in-law, Corey and Dacni Gabel of Indianola; daughters, Cristin Formaro and Cara Gabel, both of Ankeny; brothers, Larry Gabel of El Cajon, CA, and Richard Gabel of Universal City, TX; sister, Pat Wicks of Elko, NV; and granddaughters, Jordynn Formaro, Olivia Formaro, Eva Gabel and Maya Gabel.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Ankeny First United Methodist Church, American Cancer Association, American Heart Association, American Lung Association or the American Diabetes Association.
