The Life of CLARENCE E SCHLENKER

Clarence E Schlenker, 93, died June 9, 2003 at Mercy Hospital. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Hamilton''s Near Highland Memory Gardens, with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Clarence was born July 29, 1909 in Johnston. He was a bus driver for the Saydel School System through the 1950''s and was a retired farmer. He served on the Woodside School Board and was a member of Marquisville United Methodist Church, Farm Bureau, Des Moines Pioneer Club and former member of the Polk County Board of Trustees. Clarence is survived by his wife, Esther Schlenker; daughter, Joanne Andrews; son, Roger Schlenker; sister, Veda Ivers, all of Des Moines; two brothers, Raymond Schlenker and Barton Schlenker, both of Johnston; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Darwin Schlenker. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Marquisville United Methodist Church.
