The Life of VERNON M BAKER
Vernon M. Baker, 92, passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at the Kavanaugh House on 56th Street. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday March 24th at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will held on Friday between 6-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Vernon was born February 28, 1915 in Manila, IA to Ida and Byron Baker. Vernon served in the US Army during World War II. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Beaverdale VFW Post 9127 and the American Legion. Vernon is survived by his sons, Richard (Carol) Baker and Jerry (Becky) Baker both of Des Moines, his sister, Phyllis Lynn of San Gabriel, CA, 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Vern was preceded in death by his wife Rose, his brothers, Lowell, William, Eldon and Joe, his sisters, Leona Britt and Gladys Sylvester. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kavanaugh House Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
