The Life of MAONA M STERMOLE
Maona M. Brown Stermole, daughter of Allie & Hazel (King) Brown, was born on June 11, 1914 near Blockton, Iowa. She passed away at Clearview Home in Mount Ayr, Iowa on January 8, 2009.
Following graduation from Blockton High School in 1931, Maona moved to Des Moines where she worked at various jobs until taking a job at Younkers where she worked until retirement.
In 1941, she married Joseph Stermole, who also worked at Younkers. They made their home in Windsor Heights until Joe passed away in 1994. Maona moved into Clearview Home in Mount Ayr in February of 2004.
Maona was preceded in death by her husband Joe; her parents Allie & Hazel Brown; a son Larry Wertez; a brother Kenneth Brown and his wife Virginia; and a brother Elton Brown.
She is survived by two brothers Rex Brown & wife Bernice of Blockton and Laverne Brown & wife Annabell of Bedford, IA; a son Wayne Wertez & wife Nancy of Pleasant Hill, IA; several nieces, nephews and many friends.
