The Life of JEANNE LOUISE ORTLUND SHATTUCK

Jeanne Louise (Ortlund) Shattuck, 88, was taken to heaven Saturday, April 4, 2009, at Taylor House Hospice while in the presence of family. Jeanne will be remember for her quite and gentle spirit, love of God and family, and endearing sense of humor. Jeanne was born August 24, 1920, to Minnie and Benjamin Ortlund in Des Moines. She graduated from East High School and was a devoted member of the Evangelical Covenant Church. Jeanne was talented in crocheting and painting ceramic plates. She was a wonderful baker and was known for her rye bread, candies and sweet rolls. She enjoyed playing the organ and singing. She had the world’s biggest sweet tooth and always had plenty of sugary sweets in the house, which made her popular with her grandkids. She loved puzzles and playing games. Jeanne is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, John, their six children, Jim (Tammy), Tom (Jeanne), Ray (Peggy), Karen (Gregg) Hatten, Nancy (Dave) Berg, and Connie (Craig) Anderson; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; brothers, Don and Bob (Donabelle) Ortlund; sister, Charlotte (Jack) Vetter; and sister-in-law, Anne Ortlund. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ray Ortlund and sister-in-law, Eleanor Ortlund.
