The Life of MILDRED EFFIE GRIGSBY
Mildred "Midge" Grigsby, 91, died March 10, 2011 at Taylor House Hospice of complications from pneumonia. Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Jerold Morris at 10 a.m. Monday, March 14 at Sunshine Open Bible Church in Des Moines. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens.
Midge was born July 1, 1919 in Des Moines, the daughter of Ernest and Della Campbell. On May 29, 1944 she married Elmer Grigsby in Des Moines. Midge worked at Packards Meadow Gold Ice Cream, Rollins Hosiery Mill, and National Handcraft.
She is survived by her husband, Elmer; her two daughters, Carolyn Cole (Cloud) and Karen Gilbert both of Ankeny; six grandchildren, Matthew Cole (Victoria), Lisa Ile (Matthew), Leslie Haddon (Patrick), Tracie Shaner (Ryan), Amitie Keuning (Jay), Terrell Quinnett; four great grandsons, Cole, Tanner, Joel, and Elijah; seven great granddaughters, Mackenzie, Miriam, Elise, Madeleine, Mariabella, Paige, Catalina and one sister, Doris Custer (Wyatt) and many nieces and nephews.
She was a member of Sunshine Open Bible Church in Des Moines.
Midge enjoyed baking, sewing, preparing meals for her family, family gatherings, girls basketball and spending time with family and friends. Midge's sweet spirit and her deep love for God and family enriched the lives of all who knew her.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 2011 at Grandview Park Funeral Home with the family present. Memorials may be made to her church.
