The Life of DONALD RODGER DEVINAY

Donald R. DeVinay, 88, died Thursday, September 3, 2009 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Iles Funeral Homes-Grandview Park Chapel with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery followed by a reception at Union Park Presbyterian Church. Donald was born in Des Moines on December 5, 1920 to Paul and Anna (Holtz) DeVinay. He graduated from North High School and served in the Army Air Force during World War II. He worked in shipping and receiving for Westinghouse before moving to Sears and Roebuck Company where he worked for 21 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of the Union Park Presbyterian Church and the Masonic Lodge. Don enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and NASCAR Racing. He was fond of dogs and loved spending time with his family. Don is survived by three daughters, Nancy (Mike) DeVinay-McNeley of Pleasant Hill, Cindy (Jim) Blaker of Colfax and Kathy (Bill) Stone of Ankeny; eight grandchildren, Jessica, Christopher and Michael (Teri) McNeley, Max and Sami Blaker and Will, Matt and Steph Stone; and two great-grandchildren, Aydin and Brice McNeley. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Iowa Veterans Home or the Animal Rescue League.
