The Life of CECIL FERN HALL

Cecil F.Hall, 105 years of 715 West Mamie Eisenhower Avenue in Boone, Iowa passed away at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone on Wednesday afternoon, March 5, 2008. She formerly lived at 1611 2nd Street and had been a resident at the Eastern Star Masonic Home since April of 1995.

She was born on March 28, 1902 in rural Cincinnati, Iowa the daughter of James Andrew and Alice (Corporan) Baker.

On August 1, 1926, she married Wesley Frederick Hall at Newton, Iowa.

Cecil graduated from High School at Cincinnati, Iowa and attended Business School in Des Moines, Iowa.

She worked for the Western Insurance Company in Des Moines and the Central Cities Telephone Company in Newton, Iowa before moving to Boone in 1941. Before her retirement, she was employed as a secretary by the Boone County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service for fifteen years.

Cecil was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church and past member of the Order of Eastern Star. Her hobbies were gardening, playing cards, cooking, enjoying family, sending greeting cards to friends and watching sports on TV. She maintained her sweet disposition and positive attitude her whole life. She was a joy and inspiration to her family and friends and will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Wesley Hall in 1979, two brothers Eugene and Theodore Baker; and four sisters Beulah Bowie, Blanche Sturdivant, Gwendolyn Butler, and Frankie Lou Standley; and a son-in-law Carleton “Carty” Powers in October of 2007.

Survivors include one son Larry Wesley Hall of Tempe, Arizona; one daughter Sandra K. Powers of Oskaloosa, Iowa; grandchildren Capt. Pamela Kay Roark of Rota, Spain, Michael Lee Fye of New York City, New York, Scott Wesley Hall and his wife Sherry of Scottsdale, Arizona, Catherine J. Hall of Baltimore, Maryland, Jennifer G. Hall of Los Angeles, California, Shelley S. Faidley of Pleasant Hill, Iowa, Conner E. Powers of St. Louis, Missouri; great-grandchildren Jeremy L. Roark, Joshua D. Roark, Scotty W. Hall, Sammy J. Hall and Corbin A. Faidley; nieces Gretchen Stark and her husband Paul of Boone, Iowa, Waneta Rodgers of Newton, Iowa, Maxine Cochran and her husband Don of California; nephews Richard Butler and his wife Elaine of Murphys, California and William R. Hall, Jr. of Peoria, Illinois.

Services will be held on Monday morning, March 10th at 10:30 a.m. at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone, Iowa with Rev. Dr. Richard Harken officiating.

Interment will be in the Highland Memory Garden Cemetery in Des Moines, Iowa.

Friends may call at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone prior to the service on Monday morning from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service with the family present from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. to greet friends.

Memorial may be given to the First Presbyterian Church or the Eastern Star Masonic Home.
