The Life of GLADYS IRENE LARSON

Gladys Irene Larson, 96, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 25, 2010. Gladys was born February 10, 1914, in Perley, Minnesota, the youngest of eleven children to Norwegian immigrants Andrew (Andres) and Lorenza Ostby. While attending the Evangelical Free Church School in Chicago, she met her spouse of 49 years, C. Chester Larson. She contributed enormously to her husband's ministry with the Evangelical Free Church including their last pastorate at the Polk City Evangelical Free Church, Scripture Press Publications, and Trinity Western University. Together they founded the Evangelical Chaplains Ministry in Des Moines 25 years ago. She was preceded in death by her parents; all of her siblings; an infant son, David; and her husband. Those left to treasure her memory include her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Chuck and Donna Larson of Ankeny; four grandchildren, Chuck (Laurel) Larson of Des Moines, Katie Larson of Mounds View, MN, Rachel (Tom) Jones of Elkridge, MD; Carolyn Larson of Ankeny; and two great-granddaughters, Camille and Estelle Larson of Des Moines. Visitation will be at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave, Des Moines on Thursday March 4, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. Her memorial service will also be at Hamilton's on Friday March 5, 2010 at 10 a.m., with internment at Highland Memory Gardens immediately following the service.
