The Life of CLARENCE LYLE HOWELL
C. Lyle Howell, 90, died Thursday, September 10, 2009, at the Altoona Nursing and Rehab Center. Lyle was born on February 4, 1919, in Dolliver, Iowa. Lyle was a Masseur at Ben Sorensen Gym for many years and retired in 1985. Lyle is survived by his daughters, Lyla George of New Mexico; Shirley (Don) Norem and Dorothy Noble of Des Moines; ten grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 24 great-great grandchildren; and his brother, Herbert (Bonnie) of California. He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Helen. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 14, 2009 at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. A visitation with the family present will be one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Fellowship Baptist Church in loving memory of Lyle.
