The Life of MILDRED ANNA BLISS
Mildred Anna (Peterson) Bliss, 92, died July 12, 2011, at her residence in Walcott, Iowa. Mildred was born December 27, 1918, in Plattsmouth, Nebraska. Her parents were Anthon and Anna Peterson.
She married Paul Bliss August 30, 1942, and, like many other war brides, spent the next three years waiting for him to return home from overseas.
They settled in Des Moines and spent 60 years living on the Northeast side before moving to the Quad Cities to be closer to family.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia, and son-in-law, James Johnson, her grandchildren Ryan J. Johnson of Coralville, Iowa, and Regen Bliss Johnson and her great-grandchild, Jordyn Bliss Johnson, of Davenport, Iowa, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, July 16, 2011, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
