The Life of GEORGE B CLEGHORN
George Burton Cleghorn, 72, died at his home Thursday, August 7, 2008. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at Hamilton''s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St., with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
George was raised in Des Moines and graduated from East High School. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1954 and served until 1962. He lived in Huntington Beach, CA for 20 years before moving back to Des Moines. George was a self employed contractor. He enjoyed visiting his family in California and watching old Westerns on television.
George is survived by his son, Kevin (Heidi) Cleghorn and grandson, Jake of Huntington Beach, CA; daughter, Karla (Kerri Draper) Cleghorn and grandchildren, Eddie and Linsey, of Huntington Beach, CA; brothers, Stan (Betty) Cleghorn of Independence, MO, Tom Cleghorn of Jacksonville, FL and Don (Sandy) Cleghorn of Des Moines; sisters, Lucille (Bob) Jennings of Kingsland, GA and Nancy (Frank) Martin of Des Moines. He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Clarkie Cleghorn; brother, Everett Cleghorn; sisters, Patricia Reeves, Jackie Mason, Beverly Rana, Phyllis See, Gloria Jackson and Annabelle Brown.
Following the burial, a luncheon will be held at the Eagles Lodge #109, 6567 Bloomfield Rd., in Des Moines.
