The Life of WENDELL S GRIFFITHS
Wendell S. "Griff" Griffiths, 84, died Friday, July 4, 2008 at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, IA. Griff was born on March 5, 1924 in Cromwell, Iowa to Blanche and Thomas Griffiths.
Griff served in the Army from 1942-1945. He achieved the distinguished rank of pilot during his service. In 1945 after his honorable discharge, he moved to Des Moines. On September 16, 1946 Griff married Lucile Forrest. Griff retired from Ginsburg Funiture Store after many years of service.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Lucile; children: Connie Turner of Florida, Nancy (James) McCriskin of Illinois and Rhonda (Davd) Giacomarra of Florida; grandchildren, Brendan (Michele), Dawn, Katie and Scott; great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Turner; sisters, Marguerite Trusty of Creston, IA and Harriett Campbell of Adel, IA.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Herman Griffiths (March 2008).
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery, 1 NE 60th Ave., Des Moines. Family will visit with friends one hour prior to services at Hamilton''s Near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines.
