The Life of HENRY GOUKA Jr.
Henry Gouka, Jr., 87, died Sunday December 13, 2009 at University Park Care Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Thursday, December 17, 2009 at Iles Funeral Homes-Westover Chapel.
Henry was born March 13, 1922 in Des Moines to Henry and Esther Gouka. He was a life long Des Moines resident and a WWII Marine Veteran. Henry was a member VFW, Acanthus Masonic Lodge, Za Ga Zig Shrine, Marine Corp League and First Marine Division Association. He retired as the Assistant Superintendent of Maintenance for Des Moines Public Schools.
Survivors include his son, Steven (Cynthia) Gouka of Red Wing, MN; two grandchildren, Melissa (Michael) Gouka-Dopkins, Jennifer (Gary) Cornell; six great-grand- children; and his special friend, Marge Johnson of Des Moines. Henry was preceded in death by his wife, Marion.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Beaverdale VFW Post #9127.
