The Life of ALICE MARGARET FREIN

Alice Frein, 77, passed away Friday, April 8, 2011 at the Iowa Jewish Senior Life Center from complications of emphysema. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at All Saints Catholic Church, 650 N.E. 52nd Street in Des Moines from 4-7:00 pm, where a Rosary will begin at 6:30 p.m. Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at All Saints Catholic Church with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Alice was born May 22, 1933 to Clarence "C.J." and Stella (Wolf) Adams in Dyersville, Iowa. She graduated from Xavier High School in Dyersville and Clarke College in Dubuque. Alice was united in marriage to William F. Frein on September 8, 1956. Alice and Bill moved to Des Moines in 1963 where they raised their five children. Alice was employed by Iowa Des Moines National Bank, which became Norwest Bank, as an officer in the Trust Department before retiring in 1997. Alice enjoyed her family, especially the antics and achievements of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, watching the Chicago Cubs and shopping.

Survivors include her children: Julie (Don) Schomer of Des Moines and their daughter Emily (Jesse) Lindsey and their daughters Lily and Mia, Tracy (Brandon) Frein of Chicago, IL and their children Dan and Kelly, Rebecca (Bob) Montijo of Henderson, NV, Randy (Susan) Frein of Ankeny and their children Joe, Katie, Frank, Austin, Alex and Nate, Bill (Suzy) Frein, Jr. of Ankeny and their children Anthony and Mary Frances. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and brothers, Stanley and Marvin Adams.

The family would like to thank the staff at Southern Care Hospice and the Iowa Jewish Senior Life Center for their compassionate care.

In recognition of Alice''s strong Catholic faith and the wonderful care she received over the past year, in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to All Saints Catholic Church or the Iowa Jewish Senior Life Center.
