The Life of DONNA BACHMAN

Donna Bachman, 57, of Pleasant Hill, passed away at Kavanagh House on 56th September 12, 2010. As she prepared for her final journey she was comforted by her loving friend, Sharon, along with family and friends. Her dad welcomed her to heaven and was playing his guitar and singing her a song when she arrived. Donna was born in Des Moines and lived most of her life in the Des Moines area. Throughout her life she worked several jobs, but the ones she loved the most were Victoria Cleaners, driving Paratransit for MTA and Wells Fargo. Due to multiple medical issues, her professional career ended with early retirement in 2004. Donna was a genuine person who would speak her mind and voice her opinion about things. She was caring and giving and she loved people and making new friends and acquaintances. Even through all the pain and suffering these past few weeks, she would still find the strength to share one of her precious smiles. One of Donna’s greatest joys was spending time with her dad and strengthening their father daughter relationship. Before his passing, she would visit him yearly and would sit and talk for hours. She cherished this time with her dad and the unconditional love he gave her. Those left behind to cherish her memory include her loving friend and care taker, Sharon Conrad, Pleasant Hill; Matt (Tiffany) Conrad, Nevada, who Donna loved as though he was her own son; Alexa Conrad, Nevada, Donna’s goddaughter; Fran Bachman, Urbandale, who was not only Donna’s aunt, but her dear friend; Deb Bachman, Florida, her step-mom; one brother, Kalvin (Tina) Bachman, West Des Moines, who could always make her laugh; and her long-time friend of 37 years, Linda Pugh of Clive. Others left to remember her include many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, many wonderful friends, her mother and two sisters. She was preceded in death by her dad, Don (Bach) Bachman; her brother, Kevin Bachman; grandparents and her loving friend, Cheryl Ashley. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, September 16, 2010 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines, with visitation one hour prior to service time. After services, Donna will be cremated and a private family burial will be held at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery at a later date. Heartfelt thanks goes to the staff at Parkridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for all their care and support while Donna was there, and to the wonderful staff at Hospice of Central Iowa Kavanagh House for their loving care and support during a very difficult time, not only for Donna, but for her loved ones as well. Memorials will be received by the family.
