The Life of ALICE LOUISE ALLIE

Alice “Louise” Allie, 83, was born March 31, 1928, in Lacona, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph Kenneth and Ethel Gans. She died Thursday, May 5, 2011, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, after complications of a long term illness. Louise enjoyed gardening, spending time with friends at her weekly card club where they played Bridge and Canasta, cooking for her grandchildren and was a fan of Iowa Hawkeye sports. She was a member of Pioneers of America. Louise worked as a teacher’s aide for Smouse School in Des Moines, and retired from Northwestern Bell/US West. Louise is survived by her children, Thomas (Mary) Allie; Connie (Pat) O’Brien; Diane (John) Gonias; David (Susan) Allie; grandchildren, Kevin (Erica) Turner, Sheila (Todd) Griffith, Shannon (Jeff) Mullins, Ashley (Jason Young) Gonias, Timothy (Whitney) Allie, Laura Allie, and Michael Allie; great-grandchildren, Jordan Griffith and Steven Mullins; sister, Bonnie (Lowell) Trocinski; and a host of other family and beloved friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; Joseph Kenneth and Ethel Gans; and brother, Kenneth Gans. Funeral services will be held 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Family will greet visitors from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice in loving memory of Louise.
