The Life of KIRK CHARLES KUHN

Kirk Kuhn, 51, was born June 9, 1957 in Ankeny, Iowa. He passed away Monday, February 2, 2009 at Iowa Methodist Hospital. Kirk was a sergeant for the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and was with the department for 27 years. He was a former member of the S.W.A.T. team and the co-founder of Explorer Post #78, a mentor program for children interested in law enforcement in Polk County. Kirk enjoyed riding his motorcycle, shooting and collecting guns and was a WWII buff. He loved animals and especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Kirk is survived by his wife of 25 years, Marci; daughters, Dannelle (Steve) Dahlhauser, Cori Jo Kuhn (Jonah) Coleman, Carrie Kuhn; grandchildren, Chester, Meadow and Macey; father, Robert Kuhn; and his pit bull, Charlie Girl. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rosalie Kuhn and a sister, Mindy Burnett. Memorial services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 5, 2009 at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th, Des Moines. Burial of cremated remains will take place 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 6, 2009 at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
