The Life of MARVIN RAE DEAN FUNK
Marvin "Ray" Funk, 77, died Thursday, September 17, 2009 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. He was born on March 16, 1932 to Charles and Lucille Funk in Derby, Iowa.
Ray served in the United States Army and was honorably discharge in December of 1953.
Ray is survived by his, step-son, Lowell (Linda) Abarr, step-daughter, Lola (Tom) Harris, many grandchildren and great grandchildren; his mother, Lucille Funk; his brothers, Rolland (Roberta) Funk and Charles (Cindy) Funk. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Funk and two grandchildren, Chris Funk and Amy Funk Peterson.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at Hamilton''s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa. A burial will follow at the Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. A visitation with the family present will be from 5 – 7 p.m., Monday September 21 at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Chapel of Faith in Indianola in loving memory of Ray.
