The Life of LORRAINE NELLA BLANC DEVOL

Lorraine N. Blanc Devol, 88, passed away Friday, October 17, 2008 in Silver Springs, MD.  She was the last of the four children born to Samuel O. and Lettie (Jensen) Blanc, founder of the Roto Rooter Corporation.  Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, October 27, at Iles Funeral Homes-Dunn''s Chapel.  Interment will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Lorraine was born June 12, 1920 in Menominee, WI.  She was a graduate of Roosevelt High School.  She married Richard W. Devol of Des Moines on September 20, 1941.  While her husband served overseas in WWII, Lorraine worked in the Des Moines Ordinance Plant.  In 1998, she organized an annual Defense Plant worker''s luncheon.

After raising two daughters in Wheaton, MD, she enjoyed many years of Square and Round Dancing, both locally and abroad.  During this time, she loved to travel around the world with Square Dancing groups and family.  She also enjoyed serving on many committees with the WASCA Board.

Lorraine is survived by husband, Richard W. Devol; daughters, Paulette (Robert A.) Dorr and Deborah (Ricahrd L.) LaBonte; two grandsons, two grandaughters and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Monday.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
