The Life of NORMA JEAN ASHMORE
Norma Ashmore, 77, died Wednesday, January 19, 2011, at Altoona Nursing and Rehab. She was born September 29, 1933, in Des Moines.
Norma spent much of her child/adulthood at Woodward State Hospital School. She then moved to Sunnycrest Group Home in Des Moines and in the early 1990’s was able to move to her own apartment. Norma attended Eastside Church of the Nazarene for many years and was a long time employee of Link Associates. She loved celebrating holidays, birthdays, going to the Iowa State Fair and spending time at the Fourmile Senior Center. Norma loved to laugh and could be quite ornery at times. She never forgot anyone she met and was a great woman of faith.
Norma left behind close friends, Jackie and Chris Leech; Ginny and Mel Ghee; other friends include staff at Link Associates, Candeo (formerly Creative Community Options), Community Support Advocates and Progress Industries.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 22, 2011, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue. A visitation with friends will be one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
