The Life of ARTHUR R SCHMACKER
Arthur R. Schmacker, 81, of the 1100 block of Cummins Parkway died of a heart ailment Wednesday at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. The body was cremated, and memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church, with burial of the cremains at a later date.
Mr. Schmacker was born in Des Moines and had lived in Iowa Falls before returning to Des Moines. He was a retired state auditor and an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed playing bridge and poker, fishing, hunting and solving crossword puzzles.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; a daughter, Diane Horn of Columbia, SC; two sons, Alan of Des Moines and Craig of Minburn; a sister, Ermma Oatley of Houston, TX; and eight grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church Building Fund. Hamilton''s Funeral Home is handling arrangments.
