The Life of BERYL AVON PILCHER

Beryl Avon Pilcher, 69, of 1818 Ninth St. died of pneumonia Thursday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Pilcher was born in Stuart and had lived in Des Moines since 1950. He was a retired production inspector with Deere & Co. and had also been a security guard with Pinkerton Security. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War and a member of AmVets. Survivors include his wife, Doris; five sons, Jim, Alvin, Mike and Kenneth, all of Des Moines, and Dave of Tabor; four daughters, Nancy Pilcher, Pam Pilcher and Kathy Powell, all of Des Moines, and Karen Zajcew of Polk City; five brothers, Kenneth of Cedar Rapids, Donald of Illinois, Albert of Missouri, Ivan of Minnesota and Lowell of Virginia; three sisters, Joy Cox of Eldon, Lila Earhart of Burlington and Irene Waddill of Grandview, WA; 15 grandchildren; and six great-grandchldren. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at Hamilton's Near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home.
