The Life of JESSIE FRED MCDANIEL

J. Fred McDaniel, 74, of 2000 Lay St. died of a heart ailment Saturday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hamilton''''s Near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home, with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. McDaniel was born in Crab Orchard, TN, and had lived in Des Moines since 1947. He was a retired tire builder with Armstrong Tire and Rubber Co., an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Oddfellows Lodge and Capitol City Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Marvis; two daughters, Mary Jane Wilson of Ankeny and Sheila Bandstra of Independence; two sons, Randy of Des Moines and Gregory of Homassa, FL; his mother, Lora McDaniel of Crossville, TN; two sisters, Lois McNeal of Rockwood, TN and Ruby Nealon of Crossville; a brother, Avery of Crossville; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
