The Life of BARBARA ANN DOWD
Barbara Ann Dowd, 67, of Johnston, died June 23, 2006 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Barbara was born September 4, 1938 in Grimes, Iowa to Gladys and John Howard Schuessler.
Barbara was a very devoted mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Lutheran Church
of the Cross in Altoona, enjoyed bowling and was an avid Hawkeye fan.
Barbara is survived by her two daughters, Pamela Norelius (Charlie) of Johnston and Jacqueline (Terry) Sims of Grimes, her two sons, Brett Lockard (Mary) of Longmont, CO, and John Lockard of Des Moines, nine grandchildren, a sister Bev Horton of Altoona, and a brother, Jim Schuessler of Alleman, and her very special friend Roger Eggland.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert "Jack" Dowd, four brothers, Robert Vernon, Elwood and David, and a granddaughter, Jessica Norelius.
Services will at 1 p.m. Monday at Hamilton''s near Highland Memory Gardens, with burial following at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Mercy Hospice in Johnston.
