The Life of JOHNNY RAY ALLEN
Johnny Ray Allen, 58, of 1448 SE Creston Ave., died of cancer Sunday at home. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Iles Grandview Park Funeral Home. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. Allen was born in Wheelwright, KY, and had lived in Des Moines since 1951, retiring after 30 years as a driver for the Metropolitan Transit Authority. He was an adult education instructor at Des Moines Area Community College and a member of the Amalgamated Transit Union.
Among survivors are his wife, Verlene; a daughter, Candy Allen of Des Moines; three brothers, Lee of Brookfield, OH, and Kenneth and Ernie both of Wise, VA; a sister, Athalen Allen of Wise; and a grandchild.
Friends May call after 3 p.m. today at the funeral home.
