The Life of RONALD E FLATT

Dr. Ronald E. Flatt, 48, of Ames, formerly of Des Moines, died of a heart ailment Thursday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center.  Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Ames, with burial in Highland Memory Gardens in Des Moines.

Dr. Flatt was born in Des Moines and moved to Ames in 1970.  He was a professor of veterinary pathology and director of the Laboratory Animal Resources Program at Iowa State University''s College of Veterinary Medicine.  He belonged to the American Veterinary Medical Association, American Association for Laboratory Animal Science, American College of Veterinary Pathologists, American Society of Laboratory Animal Practitioners and was a diplomat of the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine.

Survivors include his wife, Lorenda, two sons, Robert Verlin and David Alan, both at home; four daughters, Linda Lou Flatt, Laura Elizabeth Flatt, Patricia Ellen Flatt and Deborah Lorena Flatt, all at home; his mother, Mrs. Ruth D. Hutchinson of California; and a sister Beverly Gets of Pennsylvania.

Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames.
