The Life of JAMES FREDRICK CIRKSENA
James "Jim" Cirksena, 74, passed away at his home Monday, July 20, 2009. Jim was born October 7, 1934 in Bedford, IA to Hank and Mozel Cirksena. He owned Jim's Auto Repair for many years. Jim loved to fly, owning a series of small planes over the years. He was a very active Shriner, flying children to and from the hospitals in Cincinnati and Chicago. Jim enjoyed vacationing in their plane and on their motorcycle. Jim is survived by his wife of 55 years, Beverly; daughters; Rebecca (Ron) Young, of Urbandale and Laura (Lonnie) Schaffer, of Denver, CO; granddaughter, Kendra Cirksena; great-grandchildren, Adam James and Natalie; brother, David Cirksena, all of Des Moines; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Cynthia; and his brother, Jon. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 23, 2009 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shrine Children’s Hospitals so Jim's love for the children can continue on through his memory.
