The Life of LURETHA D WARNER SHAFFER

Luretha Warner Shaffer, 64, of 2401 Williams St. died Monday at home of complications of cancer. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hamilton''s Near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. Shaffer was born in Delta and lived in Des Moines since 1957. She had been a homemaker and was a born-again Christian and an honorary member of People''s Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband, Eugene; three sons, Asa Warner of Bakersfield, CA, Aaron Warner of Des Moines, and Airman First Class Aric Warner, stationed at Edwards Air Force Base in California; eight daughters, Sheryl Pierce of Georgetown, TX, Dena Lindsey of Lexington Park, MD, Elsie Shaffer of Des Moines, Debbie Thomas of Marlin, TX, Susan Lealaz of Arlington, TX, and Sandy Cooper and Cindy Shaffer, both of Waco, TX; a brother, Ralph Bitner of Durant; three sisters, Helen Farmer of Wyoming, IL, Dorothy Reed of Torrence, CA, and Marilyn Henry of Chula Vista, CA; and 10 grandchildren. Friends may call after 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where the famly will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa or the Easter Seal Society.
