The Life of BILL MASSMAN

Billie Massman, 78, of the 3900 block of Fourth Street died of cancer Tuesday at Mercy Hospice in Johnston.  Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Hamilton''s Near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home, with burial in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Massman was born in Gray Bull, WY and had lived in Des Moines since 1925.  He was a retired building maintenance supervisor with Northwestern Bell Telephone Co., a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Telephone Pioneers of America, Masonic Lodge, Za-Ga-Zig Shrine and the United States Golf Association.  He was an avid golfer.

He is survived by his wife, Rosemary; a daughter, Kathleen Ziemer of Des Moines; a son, Donald of Indianola; a brother, Bob of Cupertino, CA two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice in Johnston.
