The Life of CHARLES A COCKING

Charles A. "Bud" Cocking, 75, of the 3400 block of Kinsey Avenue died of a respiratory ailment Monday at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Grant Park Christian Church, of which he was a member. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Cocking had lived in Des Moiens all his life. He was a retired pressman with The Des Moines Register and a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Register Retiree Group, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Pressman''s Union. He was a volunteer with the Blue Ribbon Foundation at the Iowa State Fair and a coach for East Des Moines girls softball. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and gardening. He is survived by his wife, Ann; three daughters, Patty Rickershauser of Colleyville, Texas, Debby Cocking-Johnson of Ramsey, Minn., and Sherry Cocking-Keener of Redding, Calif.; a sister, Jerry Monk of Altoona; and seven grandchildren. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Dahlstrom Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to his church.
