The Life of HELEN RUTH BROWN
Helen Ruth Brown, 87, of Hospice Kavanagh House died of Alzheimer''s disease there Tuesday. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Hamilton''s Funeral Home, with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Mrs. Brown had lived in Des Moines all her life. She had worked for the Des Moines Library and the Iowa Liquor Commission and was a member of St. John''s Lutheran Church, DeNova Order of the Eastern Star and Eagle Lodge Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, needlework and outdoor activities.
She is survived by a daughter, Janet Bailey, and a son, James, both of Des Moines; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Kavanagh House.
