The Life of BETTY R LAFARY
Betty R. LaFary, 88, of the 1700 block of East 21st St died of cancer Friday at Kavanagh House on Grand in West Des Moines. Services will be at 11 am. Tuesday at Hamilton''s Funeral Home, with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Mrs. LaFary was born in Pierre, SD, and had lived in Des Moines most of her life. She was a retired nurse with Still and Des Moines General hospitals and a member of Calvary Assembly of God Church. She enjoyed nursing and playing Uno at McDonalds.
She is survived by a daughter, Lelia Heck, and two sons, Dale and Roger, all of Des Moines; three sisters, Irene Sankamp of Cedar Falls, Doris Taylor of Corpus Christi, TX, and Wynona Newton of Missouri; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold D.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Kavanagh House on Grand.
