The Life of ALVIN A MARMET

Alvin A. Marmet, 88, of 752 E. Broadway Ave., died of cancer Tuesday at home.  Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Hamilton''s Near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home.  Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Marmet was born in Canton, OH, and lived in Des Moines most of his life, retiring after 50 years as owner of Marmet Auto Body Shop.

He is survived by a son, Donald of Pilot Mound; three stepsons, Bob Higens of Baldwin, WI, Jim Higens of Julian, CA, and Norman Higens of San Diego; two daughters, Betty Carey of West Des Moines, and Patty Dubbs of Des Moines; a step daughter, Barb Wruck of Des Moines; a sister, Edna Orr of Orange City, CA; 21  grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
