The Life of VETA IRENE SWANSON

Veta Swanson, 85, died Saturday, January 27, 2006, at Mill Pond Retirement Community. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, February 1, 2007, at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Veta was born August 12, 1921 in Davis City, Iowa and was a member of Capital Hill Lutheran Church. She married Roy Swanson on January 18, 1941. Veta was a wonderful and caring wife, mother, and grandmother.

Veta is survived by her sons, Lynn Swanson of Des Moines, and David (Terry) Swanson of Ankeny; her daughters, Marcia (Alan) O'Neal of Willard, Mo., Susan (Steve) Fleming of Des Moines; her brothers, Earl Pickens of Las Vegas, Nv., and Kenneth Pickens of Iowa City; her sister, Karon Graham of Des Moines; her eight grandchildren; and her six great- grandchildren.

Veta was preceded in death by her husband, Roy, and her sister, Peggy Evans.
