The Life of JACK BURKE OVERTURFF
Jack Burke Overturff, 74, passed away of cancer on Sunday, December 21, 2003 at Taylor House. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 24 at Lutheran Church of the Cross in Altoona, IA.
Jack was born in Des Moines, IA and had been a resident of Altoona for 59 years. He graduated from East High School in Des Moines in 1947 and subsequently served with the 132nd Medical Division of the Iowa Air National Guard. Jack farmed with his sons in Altoona. He enjoyed his children''s and grandchildren''s activities, wrestling and dance.
Jack is survived by his sons, Vane (Marlynn) of Altoona, Clyde (Deborah) of Dubuque and Paul (Nancy) of Altoona; a sister, Jodine Dawson of Altoona; grandchildren, Erika, Shanna, Burke and Natasha Overturff; stepgrandchildren, Jennifer Lundy and Nick Halfhill; and a great-grandchild, Seth Lundy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sheriff Vane B. Overturff and Hazel Overturff.
Jack loved his family deeply and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Memorials can be made to Taylor House.
