The Life of MARGARETHA TROTTER

Margaretha Trotter, 88, passed away February 3, 2004.  She was recently residing at Riverview Care Center, where she was lovingly cared for by her family, the staff at Riverview Care Center and the staff of Hospice of Central Iowa.  Services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, February 7 at Simpson United Methodist Church, 2600 Capitol Ave in Des Moines.

Margaretha was born in Colo, Iowa on November 14, 1915 to Minnier Trites and Robert Neese.  She was raised by her mother, Minnie and stepfather, John W. Nixon.  She sang on WHO radio, was employed by Fitch Sampoo and the Ordinance Plant during WWII, was a manager at Spiegel''s Catalog and owned a business in Monroe and Runnells.

Sher was a graduate from the school of Cosmetology and retired from Mitchellville Training School.  She volunteered for the Des Moines General Hospital Guild and enjoyed traveling both coasts and spending time with family.  She touched many lives and will be greatly missed.

Margaetha is survived by her husband, Harvey Trotter, whom she shared 39 years of marriage; a son, Lanny Jordan of Minneapolis, MN; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Laura Blake of Des Moines; two grandchildren, John Jordan and Lynne Blake and a great-granddaughter; a sister-in-law, Mary Nixon; her beloved pets, Dusty and Lambchop; and many cousins, a nephew and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Minnie and John Nixon; a son, Lynne Miles; and a brother, John Nixon II.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at McLaren''s Funeral Chapel and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Animal Rescue League.
