The Life of MELVIN LEE REED

Melvin Lee Reed, 83, of the 7000 block of Bloomfield Road, died of cancer Friday at USA Health Care Center in Urbandale.  Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hamilton''s Near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home, with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Reed was born in Boone and had lived in Des Moines most of his life.  He was a retired bus driver with Metropolitan Transit Authority and an Army Veteran of World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria; three daughters, Donna Trent of Stuart, Dede Reed of Des Moines and Debbie Hill of West Morland, TN; a stepdaugther, Maria Farmer of Des Moines; four stepsons, Sam Colacino of Enicita, CA, Fran Colacino of Highland CA, Nick Colacino of Phoenix, and Marion McElvogue of Texas; two brothers, Marlin of Des Moines and Tom of Indianola; two sisters, Delores Kuhlenbeck and Junita Juergens, both of Des Moines; 14 grandhchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
