The Life of HUGH P TONER SR.

Hugh P. “Pat” Toner of Palmyra passed away peacefully on May 10th at his home in Palmyra in the presence of family and friends. He was 84.

Pat, son of the late Jean and Hugh Toner, was born and raised at 2nd Avenue and 35th Street in Manhattan where at an early age, with the support of his family, won a tough battle with polio and went on to graduate from the academically rigorous Jesuit college preparatory school, Xavier High School. He attended The University of Notre Dame where he completed his ROTC training and graduated with a MS Chemical Engineering degree in ’61. He met the love of his life and wife of 58 years, Carol, while working at Union Carbide in Charleston, West Virginia. Together they went on to raise a family and live in Maine, New York, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. He also earned his MBA from the University of Southern Maine. He worked as Vice President of Technical and Regulatory affairs at the Society of the Plastics Industries in Washington D.C.

Pat was preceded in death by his wife, Carol (nee Cooksey), daughter, Lisa Toner, PhD., son, Hugh Patrick Toner and sister, Sr. Kathleen Toner. He is survived by his son Sean P. (Stephanie), grandson, Hugh Patrick, III, siblings, Michael (Mary), Maureen (Brian) Barry and many nieces and nephews.

A viewing for Pat will be held on Sunday, May 15th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Weber Funeral Home, 112 Broad St., Riverton, NJ 08077. A viewing will also be held on Monday, May 16th from 10:00am to 11:00am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am, all at Sacred Heart Church, 4th & Linden Ave., Riverton, NJ 08077. Interment at Gethsemane Cemetery will be held privately.
