The Life of DENNIS PAUL SHAABER

Dennis Paul Shaaber, 76, formerly of Oley, died June 3, 2023 at Hillcrest Center in Wyncote, PA.

He was the widow of Nora Ruth (Schweitzer) Shaaber, who died November 20, 2012.

Born May 16, 1947, in Birdsboro, he was a son of the late Paul Norman and Betty Katherine (Troxel) Shaaber.

He was employed as a long-distance long-haul truck driver for many years.

A nature lover, Dennis was a great outdoorsman.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing, which he did all over the United States; he also enjoyed time outdoors with his wife; they loved watching wild animals on their property and shot gun trap shooting every Sunday.  They also enjoyed the various dogs they owned over the years; Carmen was his favorite and was always by his side.

Dennis was a member of several gun clubs.  His favorite place in the world was Alagash, ME, where he was a tour guide for hunters who hunted moose, deer, elk, bear and caribou. 

Lastly, he loved racing sprint cars and dirt track cars in his younger years. 

Dennis is survived by several family members and friends.  He had a special bond with his niece Andrea “Skeeter” Williams, and her daughter, his great niece, Fiona “Doodles” Yingling. 

He was preceded in death by his brother, Stephen Norman Shaaber, and by his sister, Therese Ann Colamarino.

Burial will be private at Gethsemane Cemetery.  Stitzel Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., Laureldale is in charge of arrangements.
