The Life of PAUL L. OLEARY

Paul L. “Skip” O’Leary, 80, of Wyomissing, passed away Monday April 24,  2023 at Penn State Health-St. Joseph Hospital.  He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Nancy L. (Schwank) O’Leary.  Born on December 14, 1942, Mr. O’Leary was the son of the late Paul M. O’Leary and Mary J. (Brendlinger) Adams wife of the late Francis Adams.  He was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Shillington.  Mr. O’Leary was a 1960 graduate of Reading High School.  Following high school, he served his country that he loved, by enlisting in the United States Navy and serving as a hospital corpsman during the Vietnam Era.  While serving he was recognized several times for his devotion to duty.  Mr. O’Leary was proud that his son Jeffrey Long and grandson David O’Leary followed in his footsteps also serving in the United States Navy.  After being Honorably Discharged he started his work career at Berks County Trust Company.  He then went to work at the Reading Berks Automobile Club and then SFS Stadler.  He finished his work career as co-owner of the Shillington Laundromat until his retirement in 2003.  Mr. O’Leary was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.  His grandchildren will remember him fondly for all the crazy, funny antics he did to entertain them.  In addition to his wife, Mr. O’Leary is survived by his son Kaj D. O’Leary husband of Kathy L. of Exeter Township and his son Jeffrey F. Long husband of Lara of Greensburg, PA.  He is also survived by his grandchildren Jessica Fry (Keith), David O’Leary (Hanna), Loni Markotan (David), Dylan Sommers, Angela Long and his great grandchildren Ashley, Mary Kate, Jordan, Allie.  Also surviving is his sister Kerry A. Mohn wife of David Mohn of Exeter Township and several nieces and nephews.  Mr. O’Leary was preceded in death by his son Darryl T. O’Leary, his granddaughter Kaja O’Leary, his great grandsons Skyler Reed and Noah O’Leary and his daughter-in-law Cynthia O’Leary

The family would like to thank the nurses, aides and staff at Promedica/Heartland Hospice for the wonderful care, and support, they gave to Paul during his illness
 

Memorial Service will be held at Bean Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 129 East Lancaster Ave. Shillington, Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at 10:00 am.  Reverend Colleen Cox will officiate.  Interment with Military Honors rendered by the United States Navy Honor Guard will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery.  The family will receive relatives and friends at Bean Funeral Homes & Cremation Services Wednesday from 9:00 am to 10:00 am.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church 33 Liberty Street, Shillington, PA 19607 or United Service Organizations https://www.uso.org in memory of Mr. Paul L.
