The Life of Richard Herman Perdue

Richard Herman Perdue, 80, of Roanoke, Virginia, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, while holding the hand of his beloved wife, Cara. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Virginia Perdue.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cara; his four sons, David, Gregory and wife Cindy, Robert and wife Jennifer, and Jeffrey and wife Allyson; and four grandchildren, Kristen Chapin and husband Matt, Jeremy Perdue, Victoria (Tori) Perdue, and Skylar Perdue.

Richard was a devoted and loving husband and father. He was president of Perdue Cabinet Shop, Inc. for much of his adult life and enjoyed building custom cabinetry for many homes in the Roanoke area. He researched and restored vintage automobiles as a hobby. Richard liked vacationing in warmer climes and was decidedly not fond of cold weather. He enjoyed drinking convenience-store coffee, reading the daily newspaper, and chatting with his friends. Richard loved having a laugh with family, in-laws, outlaws, and friends.

He will be greatly missed.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at Oakey’s South Chapel at 2 pm with Pastor Jim McLane officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Burial Park with Pastor Jeff Dalton, brother-in-law, officiating.

The family will receive friends Monday night, April 29, from 4-7 pm at Oakey’s South Chapel.
