The Life of Jr. Joseph A. Morcone

Joseph A. Morcone Jr., age 95, of Fairfield, beloved husband of the late Virginia Polena Morcone, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, April 6, 2024. Born in Bridgeport, he was the son of the late Joseph and Josephine Paoletta Morcone, and often spoke of the wonderful memories he had growing up on Deacon Street on the East End. Joe was a member of the Harding High School Class of 1946 and a graduate of the Fordham University School of Pharmacy. He served in the U.S. Army after Korea. He owned and operated Morcone's Pharmacy at several locations throughout the years. Following his retirement from the Pharmacy, he worked as a tour director and traveled the United States extensively. He was a consummate joke teller who entertained everyone at family occasions. He enjoyed walking the golf course at Fairchild Wheeler. Joe will be remembered as a loving man who cared for people his entire life, not only in his profession, but also as a son, a father, a grandfather, and friend.
He is survived by a son, Christopher Morcone of Fairfield, a daughter, Victoria Cryder and her husband Jeffrey of Sandy Hook, two grandchildren, Jackson and Juliette Cryder, a brother, Rocco Morcone and his wife Susan of DelRay Beach, FL, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his sister Antoinette Aniello.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 545 Stratfield Road, Fairfield. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery, 1530 Bronson Rd., Fairfield. Friends may greet the family on Saturday morning prior to Mass from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
