The Life of Sara F. Lockett Vernon

Sara Lockett Vernon, age 93 of Roanoke VA passed away on Monday April 22nd, 2024 at home with her daughters by her side. 

She was the daughter of the late Robert Webb Fronk and Lillian Yelton Fronk.  She is the wife of Gifford O. Vernon.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Harry Neren Lockett; her brother, Robert William Fronk and her sister, Patricia Ann Skelton.  She is survived by her daughters, Maria Lockett Carlton of Moneta VA and Sara “Paige” Lockett Anderton (Craig) of Murrells Inlet SC. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Samual Philip Carlton (Courtney), Maria Neren Carlton, Jessica Anderton Maes (Kevin), Meredith Anderton Wootten (George).  Her great grandchildren, Hunter Morgan Carlton, Emma Rose Carlton, Garner David Maes, and Brady Turner Wootten expected to arrive in August.  Additionally, Sara is survived by her sister-in-law and friend, Rosalind Reynolds; nieces and nephews, Patricia S. Moore (Clyde), R. Tayloe Skelton, Julia A. Skelton, Clay E. Skelton (Susie), Corrine N. Lockett (David), Robert W Fronk (Treva).

Visitation will be held at Oakey’s South Chapel on Sunday April 28, 2024, from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m.  A graveside service will take place at Evergreen Burial Park on Monday, April 29, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.
