The Life of HERBERT "GENE" HARRY

Herbert Eugene “Gene” Harry of Rocky Mount passed away Thursday, April 11, 2024 peacefully at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was a strong, loving and Godly man blessed with 95 years of life. Gene was a Greyhound Bus Lines until his retirement. He played the mandolin, banjo, guitar and harmonica. He loved going camping, fishing and being outdoors. Gene was a member of Callaway Church of God and loved his family and the Lord. He was a walking embodiment of how a Believer was supposed to be. Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Reva Harry; twin boys, Anthony and Thomas Harry; step-children, Barry (Christine) Jones and Laurian (Kenneth) Lucas; granddaughters, Meredith Fry (fiancé, Scooter Bright and daughter Arianna Bright) and Ashley Reade; sister, Dorothy Ferrell; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Funeral services will be held at Flora Funeral Chapel, 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2024 with Pastor Bill Pagen officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park.
