The Life of Mary Ellen Thomas

Mary E Thomas, 66, of Olathe, passed away April 9, 2024 at home.

She was born on October 12, 1957 to Glen and Shirley (Tyson) Krebs at Kansas City, KS.

Mary worked as a Food Service worker for Olathe USD #233. Previously, she worked as a teacher at Top Flight Kids. She also spent many years caring for her grandchildren when they were young.

She married Jeffrey Thomas on October 15, 1977 and they later relocated to El Paso Texas. Mary and Jeffrey returned to Kansas in 1997 and resided in Olathe.

Mary is survived by her loving husband, Jeffrey, son Shane Thomas (Robin), daughter Kristen Salpas (Ed), son Brian Thomas (Jessica), daughter Megan Matthews (Kevin), sister Ruth Hignight (Mike). She will be missed by her grandchildren Nick (Maddie), Brogan, Lauren, Mallory, Blake, Hallie, Brody, Bryson, Ethan and Elizabeth.

She was preceded in death by her father Glen Krebs, mother Shirley Krebs and sister Janice Murdock.

Visitation will be at 10:00am, followed by the funeral service at 11:00am Wednesday April 17, 2024 at Penwell-Gabel Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Olathe, Kansas. Private burial to follow at Olathe Memorial Cemetery.
