The Life of Rudolph H. Archer

He was born on December 3, 1929, in Nassau, The Bahamas, the youngest of six children of Horton and Louise Archer.

Rudolph, known as Duffy to his family and friends, and Rudy to everyone else, spent the first part of his life in Nassau up to 1977, when he and his wife Elizabeth moved to San Diego, CA. They lived there until moving to Niantic, CT. in 2006 where he spent the remainder of his life.

Duffy was an avid swimmer who managed to get in a good swim in the ocean every afternoon while living in Nassau. He had a love of nature, especially the sea.

He loved kids and liked to play soccer and other games with his nieces, nephews and extended family.

Duffy enjoyed traveling and took trips to London and Scotland as well as Greece, Germany, Italy and other European destinations. Later in his life he would travel to the Caymans once a year with his wife and other family members.

Duffy also took up painting in his later years, and he created many colorful pieces of Bahamian life with a focus on nature.

He was a kind, caring and generous man, always helpful and ready to listen to others.

Rudolph is survived by his wife Elizabeth; son Leslie Archer of Nassau, and stepson Alex Defelice of Connecticut, brother and sister in-laws Maurice and Lucy Simard of Windham, Connecticut, and Michael and Christine von Berg, of San Diego, California, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by five siblings.
