The Life of JAMES LESTER

James Henry Lester Jr., of Roanoke, VA, formerly of Gary, WV, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 29, 2024. Born on December 31, 1966, in Welch, WV, he was the son of James Henry Lester and Sandra Ann (Thompson) Lester. Jr was known as “Mr. Fix It” for his family and friends and you could often find him in his garage working on one of his Chevrolet Nova’s and most recently his 1963 Chevy II. He enjoyed taking camping trips with his family and attending drag racing events and car shows. Jr has been a dedicated employee of Blue Ridge Color Company/Shopfix, Inc for the past 10 years. He was a supporter of all of his kids’ and grandkids’ sports/hobbies and could always be found with an ice cream in his hand.

Jr was preceded in death by his parents, James Henry Lester and Sandra Ann Lester, as well as his sister, Sherry Ann (Lester) West.

He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Lisa Lester; his daughter, Kayla Lewis (Charles); son, Cole Lester; grandson, “Pawpaw’s Buddy”, Easton; granddaughter, “Pawpaw’s Girl”, Kennedy; and grandpup, Diesel. Jr is also survived by his two brothers, Eddie Lester (Lynn) of Gary, WV, and Jason Lester (Chrissy) of Troutville, VA, and numerous nieces and nephews, along with other close family.

Jr never met a stranger, made an impact on the lives of others, and created many lifelong friendships.

The family would like to give a heartfelt “thank you” to all of those who have surrounded them with prayer, comfort, and love during this time. Jr will be greatly missed by all.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 5, 2024 at Oakey’s South Chapel with both Pastor Harry Hudson and Pastor Mike Hudson officiating. Graveside services will follow after service at Mountain View Memorial Park in Boones Mill, VA. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at Oakey’s South Chapel.
